Elaine Sylvia Johnston Tarver, born 6/7/1940 Tyler TX, Died 5/12/2013, Houston, TX. She was raised in Houston and grew up in West University, attended Lamar High School and graduated in 1959. She received a BA in Business from Sam Houston State in 1962. She was a teacher at Lanier Middle School and registrar at Bellaire High School and Sharpstown High School. A member of Kappa Delta, DRT, UDC, DAR, Colonial Dames of the 17th Century. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, traveling and sewing. The family wishes to give a special thanks to the staff at Silverado Senior Living. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sylvia and Earl Johnston. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Bill Tarver, Son Mark, Daughter Karen Tarver Shively and husband Chris, Sister Betty Prentiss and many friends and relatives. A Visitation will be held Thursday, May 16th at Forest Park Westheimer from 5pm - 8 pm. Service will be held on Friday, May 17th, at 10 am, at Church of the Epiphany 9600 Gessner. Donations may be made to the SPCA, Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org or CAPS in honor of Elaine.
