James Allen Donalson

JAMES ALLEN DONALSON, lifetime resident of Houston, joined his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 21, 2009. Born January 3, 1946 in San Marcos, Texas, Jimmy was the second son of Edward and Anne Marie Donalson. He was preceded in death by his parents. Jimmy is survived by his two brothers, Norman R. Donalson and Edward E. Donalson, both of Houston, Charles D. Donalson of Houston, and Jane B. Simpson of LaPorte, and by many cousins and numerous nieces and nephews. After attending Sam Houston State University, where he played football, Jimmy served in the US Navy from 1966-1970. He was Petty Officer First Class and served on a submarine in the Arctic. After discharge, he was a Navy Recruiter in Huntsville, TX. He subsequently was a real estate agent for many years. In 1996, Jimmy moved to Houston to take care of his mother full time. He cared for her until her death in 2004. He was a devoted son, and a loving man that will be missed dearly. Jimmy enjoyed fishing, writing poetry, gardening, studying and reading the Bible, and visiting with friends and family. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Saturday April 25, followed by a funeral service at Cypress-Fairbanks Funeral Home, 9926 Jones Road in Houston, TX. Interment will follow at DaVilla Cemetery in DaVilla, TX.
