JOHN CLAYTON WALLING, 70, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, October 24, 2010.He was a fourth generation Houstonian who graduated Lamar High School (1958) and attended The University of Texas where he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity and recently recognized as a fifty year Gold Circle member. He completed his degree in Chemical Engineering at University of Houston (1964) and began a long and successful career at Dow Chemical. Most recently Clayton has enjoyed working at Enterprise Products in Mont Bellevue. Clayton Walling was an avid traveler and together with his wife of 46 years he circled the globe many times. They immersed themselves in every culture and never tired of learning from the people of other countries and experiencing profound and inspirational sights such as the Egyptian Pyramids, Bora Bora, Kashmir, Nepal and his favorite building in Rome the Pantheon. Clayton is survived by his loving wife, Alice Ann Alsup Walling and two cherished children Sabrina Lynn Walling Reynolds (husband Bill) and Stacy Renee Walling Gosch (husband Joe). He has five vibrant grandchildren Anna Marie Reynolds, Will Clayton Reynolds, Christopher Aloysious Reynolds, Audra Renee Gosch and Lilah Ann Gosch. Clayton is also survived by his sister Candy Walling Post (husband Max) and his nephew Matthew K. Post and twin nieces Cindy Post and Becky Post.The family would like to give special recognition to the staff of Texas Heart Institute at St. Lukes Episcopal Hospital in the Texas Medical Center. Particularly the nurses, Dr. Mesa and Dr. Loyalka who worked tirelessly to care for and heal him.Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 27 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home.
