Judith Ann "Judy" Stewart Obituary
Judith Ann "Judy" Petersen Stewart, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, the 29th of August 2014, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. She was 75.
She was born on the 1st of June 1939, in Alice, Texas, to Dorothy Elizabeth and Arnold Howard Petersen. She lived the majority of her life in Houston. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in Houston in 1957, where she met and later married her husband James (Jim) Stewart on the 7th of September 1957.
She led a very Christian life and was devoted to her family and their many friends. She was a member of Second Baptist Church for 37 years. Judy enjoyed traveling the world with Jim and spending time with her children and grandchildren to whom she was lovingly known as "Nana." Without question, Judy's greatest joy was her family.
Judy was preceded in death by her loving husband Jim, of 57 years, and her parents and is survived by her three daughters and their husbands, Sharyn and Dan Robinson, Sasan and Alton Cook, and Pam and Bubba Schmidt; and four grandchildren, Elizabeth Robinson, Emily Robinson, Christian Schmidt and Mackenzie Schmidt; and her brother Donald Petersen.
A memorial service is to be conducted at two o'clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, the 3rd of September, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent grand foyer.
Prior to the service, the family will have gathered for a private interment at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston.
