Kenneth Wayne Ferguson Obituary
Kenneth Wayne Ferguson Ken Ferguson, beloved husband father and grandfather, went to be with the Lord July 5, 2012. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Kitty, his son, Kenneth Ferguson Jr. and his wife Jennifer and their three children Chase, Lauren, and Landry; and by his daughter Kathleen Montler, her husband Ryan, and their two children Mia Kate and Allyson Leigh. He has a sister, Kay Ferguson Hickey who lives in Illinois, and he is preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Ferguson, his father Wayne Ferguson, and his sister Martha McIntyre. Ken is also uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. He was born in Waco, Texas where he began his career in football by playing on the Waco High School Tigers football team, and was recruited by the University of Texas where he was part of the National Championship team of 1963. After playing a season with the San Antonio Toros, a semi-pro team, he went back to Waco where he coached for ten years before taking a coaching job at Arlington ISD where he also earned a Masters degree in Education. After retirement, he became part of the coaching staff at Bay Area Christian School in League City for three years. During his lifetime Coach Ferguson touched many lives and was a strong role model for young men. He lived his faith and had a tremendous influence on many players that will last a lifetime. His legacy will not be forgotten.
Services will be held on Saturday, July 14 at 3:00 at the Bay Area First Baptist Church in League City with visitation on Friday July 13 at the Crowder Funeral Home in League City from 6pm-8pm. Graveside services are scheduled for Monday, July 16, at the Rosemound Cemetery in Waco at 2:00 pm. Memorials may be made to the "For His Glory" campaign at Bay Area First Baptist Church in League City.
