HILTON'S HI-LITES
FROM HEAVEN
VOL. XI
Hilton, here, reporting in from Heaven! 11 years, and still Sings my Soul to God of His Greatness. Recently God's been singing of the "greatness" of earth's "social media". As Creator of the original "Tablets" to guide humanity, God's been intrigued by the largesse of human inter-networking. He heard a man proclaim, "the internet is my religion"; He read about the "Church of Google" asserting that "Google is God"! Well, I guess there are similarities: God is wireless, and He is the ultimate search engine to the Way, the Truth and the Life. Seriously, God is what happens when humanity is connected for the Good, whether via an invisible nervous system of electronics, or simply via holding hands. But if you ever find yourself in a 'dead-zone', unlike the "google gods", you can talk to Him directly, no Wi-Fi necessary! But I digress from my report:
EARTH WATCH: evidence of His Miracles abounds: Hail the Babies, full of His Amazing Grace: Maximus, Madelaine, twins Caleb and Isabella, and baby-girls-to-be for the Wissink and Brunton families. And also miraculously delivered safely through His Grace, 33 Chilean miners, their army of Houston earth angel technologists to the rescue! And my running buddies continue to "represent": Slinger author Bruce G. honored with induction into the Ronnie Arrow Jewish Sports Hall of Fame…and Sadie, Sadie Sadie, running her way to age 80! And while the heavens regaled in the earthly joys, know the angels shed a tear over the challenges-from the tsunamis, tornadoes, fires and floods, through high gas prices, predictions of the Apocalypse, and heck, even the end of the Oprah show…the heavens bore witness as His embrace comforted those on earth, as well as those souls he invited Home.
HEAVEN WATCH: The voice of God, I mean, the voice of the Yankees, Bob Sheppard, waited patiently at the pearly gates to announce the arrival of George Steinbrenner! The Babe, the Iron Horse, Joltin Joe, the Mick and all Yankee greats were thrilled to welcome "the Boss" to the "House that God built". Mama Coffelt and daughter Theresa greeted son/brother Kenny, who arrived in perfect heavenly health. They immediately began work on Heaven's latest attraction—the Paradise Butterfly Garden, forever connecting Kenny with his children's Bee Cave Elementary butterfly garden in Austin, that his little ones and all his family feel Kenny's love with every beautiful butterfly they see. Land and title expert Paullette Trepl entered the gates and got right to work: "…uh, Most Holy One, you know thy big Book of Life, well, with all due respect, I think I've found a few "title corrections". Ha! In heaven as she was on earth! I was surprised but joyful to greet Jeff Alseth, his now healthy smile radiating—peace-filled and content in knowing the joy he shared with Jane, family, friends, Fr. Schlegel and all of Creighton University, is eternal. On a Not so peace-filled note, even the heavens quaked when Osama Bin Laden appeared to St. Peter! Unexpected at many levels, heavenly buzz abounded! I mean, as David Ewart aptly asked after 9/11, "What does God do with a dead terrorist?" The Sermon on the Mount counseled us to "Love your enemies". Yet, this wasn't just any enemy. From opposite sides of Heaven's Gates, surrounded by 3000 souls from 9/11, halos pressed to the bars, God spoke to Bin Laden. God walked Bin Laden through his life and the events of 9/11, but with a twist: Bin Laden was forced to see his life through God's eyes of Love and Mercy. One by one, almost 3000 times, he was forced to look into the eyes of each soul on the planes or in the towers or the Pentagon, each police officer, fire fighter and rescue worker. He experienced how and what each felt and experienced every moment of that morning. He lived through 3,000 deaths; not as a terrorist, but as a loving, merciful, but now tortured, soul. He begged to be cast to the eternal fires to escape the agonizing consequences he could now feel. And so there they stood at Heaven's Gates: God and the 3000 souls on one side, Bin Laden on the other, St. Peter with keys in hand in the middle. The deafening silence was impenetrable…you could have heard an angel wing quiver…Was this the Prodigal son? Was Bin Laden really a child of God, now stripped of the evil Heaven will not allow? Had he now suffered his own personal purgatory? Was he "heaven-worthy"? And then God broke the silence and rendered the Eternal judgment He alone can confer in His Holy infinite Omniscience ….and the 3000 souls and all the heavens were at peace.…if it weren't true, I would have told you.
Until my next Report, remember, God doesn't love you every now and then, it's a love without end, Amen!
Much Love,
Leonard
