My heart is broken for the Pope family in the loss of Martha. We were high school friends, band mates and sorority sisters. We even taught together for a few years. I have so many memories of us as young mothers. The world is indeed a sadder place without her. Rest In Peace, my dear friend.

Martha was the kindest, most generous, and most loving person I have ever met. She was the very personification of unconditional love. When she met you, you became her friend. And when you became her friend, you became part of her vast extended family. She was there for you in the best of times and in the worst of times, and everything in between. It was a true honor to be her friend for over 53 years.

Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Amen
