ROBERT EDGAR MEGILL of Kingwood, TX, went to be with his Lord on September 28, 2005. Robert Megill was born November 26, 1923 in Lawrence, KS, to David Lucien Megill and Margaret Wilson Caskey Megill. He is preceded in death by both parents and two brothers, David L. Megill of Tulsa, OK, and Donald Ralph Megill of Kaysville, UT. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Margaret Webb Megill, and loving family: son, Reverend Gregory Alan Megill and wife, Kathleen of Center, TX; daughter, Jana Megill Green and husband, Steve of Houston, TX; and granddaughter, Amy Kathleen Megill, a student at Sam Houston State University. He is also survived by siblings, Mary Jean Merrill of Grapevine, TX; Margaret Julia Johnson and husband, Loren, of Houston, TX; Reverend George Caskey Megill and wife, June, of Raleigh, NC; sister-in-law, Sara Webb Carpenter and husband, Frank. of McAlester, OK; beloved caregiver, Angel Durante of Kingwood, TX; 10 first cousins and families; one aunt, Zatha Loehr of Des Moines, IA; many loving nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. Our special thanks to Ray and Maxine Green of Tyler, TX for their loving care in their home during his final days of illness. We also thank East Texas Hospice and Northeast Hospice and all of his caregivers. Robert touched the lives of many with his kindness and wit. He was a member of Kingwood United Methodist Church, Parkinsons Foundation of Harris County, Houston Area Parkinsons Society, Bellaire Lodge #1336 A.F. & A.M. (endowed), Houston Scottish Rite Bodies, Past Patron of Bellaire Chapter #1026 Order of the Eastern Star, Board Member of Bellaire Assembly #296 Order of the Rainbow for Girls, ExxonMobil Retirees Club of Lake Houston, Past President of Kingwood Writers and Poet Society, and business associations: Honorary Member of American Association of Petroleum Geologists, Tulsa, OK; AAPG Foundation of Tulsa, OK; and Houston Geological Society. Robert entered the U.S Navy Seabees in 1942 and served 13 months on Guadalcanal. He was transferred to Oklahoma University, Norman, OK, for Reserve Officers Training, and finished college at Tulsa University with a degree in Geological Engineering, graduating in 1948. He worked for 40 years for Standard of New Jersey affiliates Carter Oil, Humble Oil and Exxon USA as a geological engineer. After retirement, he consulted and taught domestically and internationally in the oil and gas field using many of the books he authored in the petroleum field. Many of his seminars were conducted with good friends Ed Capen and Pete Rose. Services will be held at Kingwood Funeral Home, in Kingwood, TX at 10:30 a.m. on October 3, 2005 with the Reverend Joe W. Fort, Jr., of Kingwood United Methodist Church officiating. Masonic graveside services will be held in Claremore, OK, at the Woodlawn Cemetery on October 5, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may donate to Parkinsons Foundation of Harris County, 7457 Harwin, Suite 308, Houston, TX 77036.
