Roy E. Johnson, Sr.
1921-2020
Roy Ernest Johnson, Sr., 99, of Houston passed away Friday, December 18, 2020. Mr. Johnson was born February 13, 1921 in New Orleans, LA to Roy and Ruth Johnson. He is preceded in death by his wife Elodie "Dee" Pujols Johnson and his son Roy E. Johnson. Roy is survived by his daughter, Barbara Johnson Perry & husband David; daughter-in-law, Karen Johnson; grandchildren, Meaghan Perry, Jonathan Perry, Michael Merrick Johnson, Kristen Teague and Jennifer Johnson. He is also survived by 8 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
Roy grew up in the New Orleans area. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Tulane University. He had a long career with HH Robertson Construction. Mr. Johnson proudly served his country in World War II and Korea. He was an active member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Houston and Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Memorial Council 6527. Roy was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Eucharistic Adoration Assembly 3053. Additionally, Roy was the founder and Past President of the New Orleans Engineers Club and volunteered for over 30 years at Memorial Herman Southwest Hospital with his wife Dee. Roy loved playing golf and woodworking in his spare time.
More than anything Roy created a loving family that sticks together. He was quick witted and kind and full of life.
