Timothy David Tull Obituary
Timothy David Tull
Timothy David Tull (1958-2015) was born in Huntsville, Texas into the music-oriented world of Charlotte and Fisher (Mickey) Tull.
Tim was driven to pursue a musical career like his parents, and from an early age he focused on developing his skills as a percussionist. At the age of 12, Tim sang the role of Amahl in Sam Houston State University's production of Amahl and the Night Visitors. He was drum major for his high school marching band.
After graduating from The University of Texas, he attended Northwestern University, receiving a Master's of Fine Arts in Conducting.
Tim began his career as a high school band director, then moved to Houston, where he was a percussion teacher at the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. He enjoyed playing in the Houston Ballet Orchestra, the Houston Grand Opera Orchestra, the Gilbert & Sullivan Society, and Theater Under The Stars.

Tim was born with rhythm, and he delighted in exploring and mastering the endless sounds and colors of percussion. His strong sense of community and connection found perfect expression in his unerring sense of ensemble, and while powerful, his playing was always elegant. Tim's joyous rhythms pulsed through all our hearts.
In 1998, Tim became the Music Librarian at the Houston Grand Opera. He quickly became a mainstay of the HGO family, assisting singers, conductors, the orchestra, and composers in every production, as well as helping young singers in the Opera Studio, and anyone else in need of his knowledge and experience.
Tim welcomed everyone into his heart, gave generously of his time and talents, and everyone who knew him loved him. He devoted his life to his family and friends and they are all enriched by memories of his friendship and love.
Preceded in death by his father, Mickey, a guiding force in his life, Tim dearly loved his family members who survive him: his mother, Charlotte Tull; his sister, Jennifer Tull; his niece Aubrey Boozer; and his mother-in-law, Vesta Eidman. His wife, Joan Eidman, was the love of his life.
Tim's recent death has shaken everyone who knew him and has precipitated an outpouring of love from around the world.
A service for Tim will be held at St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Huntsville at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October first.
A memorial service in Houston will be held at a time to be announced.
For friends wishing to make a contribution in Tim's memory, he believed in Planned Parenthood's funding of health care for women (www.plannedparenthood.org), the Clean Water Action Fund (cleanwateraction.org) and the Fisher Tull Endowed Scholarship at Sam Houston State University, (P.O. Box 2537, Huntsville TX 77340).
