Mark Stephen Snell, 62, passed away on October 5, 2018, at his home in Houston, Texas, where he was a senior business and legal leader, global strategist, and global economic developer.
Mark was born in Owensboro, Kentucky on January 18, 1956 to Walter Leo and Mary Helen McLemore Snell. After receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in Government from Western Kentucky University and his Juris Doctor with Honors from the University of Kentucky - College of Law, where he was the Editor-in-Chief of the Kentucky Law Journal, Mark was recruited by Baker Botts in Houston. Mark was honored as one of Five Outstanding Young Houstonians in 1993 and was a graduate of Class X in Leadership Houston. He served as President of the Houston Young Lawyers Association, chaired both the Houston Young Lawyers Foundation and the Houston Bar Foundation, and served on the Board of Directors of the Texas Young Lawyers Association and the Houston Bar Association.
Mark is survived by Laura Drummond Snell, his wife of 28 years, and his two sons of whom he was immensely proud, Mark Stephen Snell, Jr. and Jack Walter Snell. He is also survived by his brothers Terry Snell (Teresa) and Tom Snell (Silvana) of Owensboro, Kentucky; his sister Diane Bruckner of Coldwater, Kansas; his brothers–in-law Cecil Drummond of Houston and Jim Smith of Palacios; numerous nieces and nephews; and his loving Brittany Spaniels, Scout and Abbie.
