Frances May Obituary

Frances (Fran) Tyner May , 74, went to be with her Lord on January 16, after courageously battling a long illness. Fran was born on July 8, 1937 in Baltimore, Maryland and lived most of her life in Houston, Texas and since 1982, in Tomball. She was married to the love of her life, Michael J. May, on October 18, 1958. Their relationship can only be described as a marriage of total love, devotion and commitment to each other. Preceding her in death were her parents Clarence and Naomi Tyner of Tomball. She is survived by her sister Peggy A. Yaklin, brother Graham (Bud) Tyner and many devoted nieces, nephews and extended family members. There were four unshakable pillars in the life of this loving, kind and spirit-filled lady - her devotion to her faith, her total love and devotion to her husband Michael, her commitment and passion for her tremendous art talent and her dedicated undying loyalty to family members, when in need. Fran was a very accomplished artist and excelled in two areas over a lengthy career - pastel and oil portraits with many notable Houston area commissions and paintings of a religious theme. Her precious painting of "Mary and Christ Child" and the large inspiring 8' X 8' "Risen Christ" painting located in the Catholic Charismatic Center, near downtown Houston are two notable examples of her passionate talent. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 19, 6pm to 8pm at Klein Funeral Home, 1400 W. Main, Tomball, Texas 77375. A celebration of her life and Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 20, 2012 at 11am, at St. Anne Catholic Church, 1111 S. Cherry St., Tomball, Texas 77375 followed by a 2pm burial service at Klein Memorial Park, Pinehurst, Texas.

Ms. May, we did not meet in this life though I feel I know much about you and your love for our Lord through your charism of religious art. Thank you for ministering God's love in such a beautiful way. We have gifted your work and also have several in our home, "Mary with the Child Jesus" and "Child Reaching to Touch the Face of God." We look upon the "Risen Christ" behind the altar at every Catholic Charismatic Center Mass. I am always very excited when I see other works by you. They reveal the depth of your faith and communion with our Savior, Christ Jesus who lives and reigns with the Father in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever. May your soul rest in His divine mercy and love eternally.

Dearest Fran, You, are my inspiration. I miss you so very much. You were a true friend. You asked me once if I thought maybe our group of artists in class, were tired of hearing your love for Christ. I told you from my heart, no. I told you, without words from sweet angles here in earth, how would we ever know to trust when we felt or heard our angels speak to us. I learned so very much from your expertise in pastel drawing. But, most of all I miss your friendship.
Thinking of you, your birthday July 8th, and you, just being you.
❤.... Joanna

Dearest Uncle Mike..We lost a beautiful person here on earth but heaven gained and ANGEL. Because of knowing you and Aunt Frannie, I am a better person. Although she is not here in the flesh any longer I know she is watching us from above in her new perfect body...I will never forget her smile, her laughter and mostly the way she always made me feel special and beautiful. There is a hole now that will never be filled, but knowing she is with Our Lord, family and friends that have passed is comforting. Thank you Aunt Frannie, not everyone can say they made a difference while here on earth but you can...your spirit and artwork will remain here forever and continue to be a blessing. I love you and I will be here to help take care of my precious Uncle Mike knowing you are looking down on us with a smile. XXXOOO

Mike, Fran was the dearest sister in Christ to me that I have ever had. My deepest consolation is knowing she and I are still united in Christ and that we always will be. Reminds me of that old song: "We are one in the Spirit. We are one in the Lord..." And that will never end. Bev

Mike, Fran was a friend and fellow artist. I did not know she was ill and was saddened to hear of our loss and yours. Fran was an inspiration to many local and national artists not only because of her gift of art but also the gift of her sweet spirit and life. I am thankful to know we will meet again. Judy Crowe

I know of Fran May from the Catholic Charismatic Center and her beautiful painting, "Risen Christ." She spoke about her inspiration for painting "Risen Christ," in the old St. Nicholas Charismatic Center sometime in the 1970's with Fr. Richard Paulissen as Director/Pastor.
I have the picture in my home, also, on my computer screen saver and I have given the picture purchased from the Charismatic Center bookstore to family & friends. I also send the post card of Fran's beautiful Jesus in cards of Get Well & Sympathy. God bless Fran for touching so many hearts and souls with Jesus. Prayers for her family and friends. Dear Mike,
The Lord brought us together in 1984 - we were newlyweds in a 'foreign' land - yet you embraced us like family. We are grateful for the opportunity to have had both of you in our lives, regret we are unable to be there for you, and look forward to the future reunion with your sweetheart, our talented mentor & dear friend, Fran.
May the peace of Christ comfort you.
Love, Dallas, Nancy, Alicia & Clara

Mike:
God put you both in our lives in the most beautiful way. Both of you have truly been an amazing blessing to us. There can be no other explanation - God wanted to bless us through you both - and He did abundantly. Fran's art and our celebration of her beautiful life fill us with joy, especially in knowing of heaven's rejoice in her. Her paintings of our three children are so precious to us. We cried with joy with each unveiling....her God given gift is so amazing!!! You both have a very special place in our hearts. Our prayers continue to be with you.
