Dr D. Robert Chapman Memorial services for Dr D. Robert Chapman, 65, are today at 1st Baptist Church Winnsboro TX. Dr. Chapman died Jan 28 in Dallas, with family after a long illness. He was born on Sept. 17, 1947, in Houston, to Dr. Don Chapman (deceased) and Mary Lou Chapman.
He is survived by his wife Karla Chapman; son Kord Chapman and wife Jessica; son Cass Chapman and wife Jessica; sister Nancy Colb, husband Andy and daughter Anna, Washington DC; two grandchildren Natalie White-Chapman and Harlan Chapman who brought great joy.
Dr. Chapman earned a premed degree at U of Houston. After completing medical school, a general surgery internship and residency at UT Houston, he completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at Baylor College of Medicine. Under Red Duke MD at UT Houston, he was the first physician on 1st US LifeFlight helicopter. Dr Chapman also had fellowship with Houston Sports Medicine and Baylor College of Medicine. He opened his practices as an orthopedic surgeon in Dallas, specializing in sports medicine and total knee replacement surgery. He was one of 13 Chapman physicians over five generations.
