Alf Stefan Andersson, 59, passed away June 9, 2013 in his home in Houston due to unforeseen circumstances. Stefan is survived by his sisters, Anneli Andersson, of Gothenburg, Sweden; and Marie Andersson Bremberg, of Mariefred, Sweden; along with four nieces and a brother-in-law.
Stefan was born in Västerås, Sweden. He attended Uppsala University, where he majored in pharmacology, and then went on to earn a doctors degree. He relocated to Dallas, Texas, to pursue a lifelong career in medical research. Most of his time was spent at UT Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, with a short stint at Merck & Co., NJ, in the nineties. During his final years he worked at University of Houston, at the Center for Nuclear Receptors & Cell Signaling. Stefan will be remembered for an amazing sense of humor, honesty, a brilliant mind, and above all love and generosity. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends around the world.
