I just now found out that my old friend, Tom, has passed away. I knew him when we were both attorneys at United Gas Pipe Line Company in the early 1980's. He was a great and a wonderful guy. I learned a great deal from him. He loved his family, especially his son, Wade.

Aunt Reva,
I'm so sorry for your loss. I'll never forget you two driving all the way up to San Antonio from Houston just to see me play basketball. That was a great memory for me!
I know you will miss him, and I pray that somehow during this time Jesus comforts you above and beyond what you've ever experienced and that He would fill your every need and longing.
I love you Aunt Reva, and I'm praying for you!
Love,
Grant

Dear Reva, I know how deeply Tom has loved you all these years and how deeply you love him. I am honored and blessed to have known Tom and together with Patricia and Kaylin we extend to you our deepest and most heartfelt love and sympathies for your tragic loss. Although we live in New Orleans, it was so obvious during our visits with you and Tom over the many years how much of a kind and thoughtful person he was and what a loyal and loving husband he has been to you. I will miss Tom very much and we pray that the peace of God be with him in heaven and with you always. With love-- Peter, Patricia and Kaylin Thomson.

What a wonderful man was Tom Pounds, and what a legacy he leaves. He was very kind, soft-spoken and caring. He was brilliant and saw the part of an issue no one else saw. We loved him very much, and it will not be the same without him. He and Reva Jean were a remarkable and awesome pair. Both brilliant and they complimented each other. They were soul mates. Oh how sad for her not to be able to share each and every moment with him for the rest of her life. He was so proud of her and included her in every decision. He enjoyed making her happy, and she was so creative. Her ideas he made a reality.

I want to share a poem with Reva and her family, and I hope it will be meaningful and will be remembered and cherished. I love you! Reva Jean and I plan to participate in helping to make your life as happy as it can be without Tom. Rest in peace, Thomas Pounds. You are loved.

The Ship"
I am standing on the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength, and I stand and watch until at last she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky comel down to mingle with each other. Then someone at my side says, There! She's gone!

Gone where? Gone from my sight - that is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and just as able to bear her load of living freight to the place of destination.

Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at the moment when someone at my side says, There, she's gone! there are other eyes watching her coming and other voices ready to take up the glad shout, Here she comes!
