John Warren Obituary

JOHN WILLIAM WARREN, III,43, a resident of Sugar Land, Texas, formerly of San Antonio, Texas, died Thursday, October 14, 2004 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on June 03, 1961, in San Antonio, Texas. John was a 7th generation Texan and a descendant of pioneers of the Republic of Texas. He was an active member of the Christ United Methodist Church while residing in Sugar Land. John graduated from Alamo Heights High School in 1979 in San Antonio and from Texas A & M in 1986. For approximately the last 18 years, John has worked as an environmental engineering consultant. He has been a good and humble servant of the Lord from childhood, active in churches in San Antonio, College Station, and Sugar Land. He was a devoted husband, father, son and brother. As a father, he set the example for his daughters to lead good lives filled with faith in God. He encouraged them in every way from coaching soccer to being good students and citizens who love and care for others, including their pets and their environment. Each place and heart that John touched during his lifetime was made better because of him. He loved the outdoors and lived life to the fullest with his family, friends and neighbors. Mr. Warren was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Charles Alexander and Mary Frances Stevens Westbrook and his paternal grandparents, Robert Lee and Mary Blair Warren. He is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Mrs. Lisa Beckerdite Warren; daughters, Mary Kaitlin Warren and Carla Jane Warren; his mother, Sara Jane White and stepfather Robert E. White, MD; father, Frank Blair Warren and stepmother Charlotte Warren; brothers, Stevens Westbrook "West" Warren and wife Dana and Scott Elliott White and wife Kim; sisters, Sally Anne Warren Jackson and husband Jeffery, Rene White, Kimberly White Erlinger and husband Thomas Erlinger, M.D.; brother-in-law Steven Beckerdite and wife Debbie; and sister-in-law Cheryl Beckerdite; along with nephews, Matthew Warren, Michael Warren, William Jackson, Travis Beckerdite, and Henry Erlinger; and nieces, Sara Warren and Lydia Jackson. The family will receive friends and guests on the evening of October 17, 2004, between the hours of five o'clock and eight o'clock in the evening inside the Chapel of The Settegast-Kopf at Sugar Creek, 15015 Southwest Freeway, Sugar Land, Texas 77478. Funeral services will be conducted at Christ United Methodist Church, 3300 Austin Parkway, Sugar Land, Texas, on Monday, October 18, 2004, at one o'clock in the afternoon. Pallbearers for Mr. Warren will be Ashby McMullen, Reb Brem, Gary Boldt, Steve Beckerdite, Scott White, Tate Erlinger, Dan Ostrander, Jeffrey Jackson, and Houshyar Moarefi. Graveside services will be conducted at one o'clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, October 19, 2004, at Mission Park South Cemetery, 1700 Southeast Military Drive, San Antonio, Texas. In lieu of usual remembrances, donations may be made to the John William Warren III Brain Tumor Research Fund, payable to the HSC Foundation at Texas A & M College of Medicine, Office of Institutional Advancement, 104 Reynolds Medical Building, College Station, Texas 77843-1114. Donations may also be made to the Christ United Methodist Church of Sugar Land, 3300 Austin Parkway, Sugar Land, Texas 77478. Mr. Warren's family would like to extend their special gratitude to the members of Christ United Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church of Sugar Land; to John's co-workers at Weston Solutions, the doctors and nurses at M.D. Anderson's Brain and Spine Center and Rehabilitation and Palliative Care Center, Houston Hospice and to the many friends and neighbors who have done so much to support John and his family throughout his long battle against cancer.
