JOHN BYRON TROTTER was born on October 6th, 1979, the son of Susan and Clayton Trotter. After graduating from high school in Blanco, TX, he enlisted in the Army infantry. He was posted in Washington D.C. as part of the Honor Guard and performed duties such as guarding the Tomb of the Unknowns, guarding the President and White House, and burial ceremonies at Arlington National Ceremony. He also served in the Pentagon, and after 9/11, became a rescue worker performing mortuary duty while going through the ruins. After his initial 4-yr commitment, he re-inlisted and was posted in Korea. There he served for one year, until his division was sent to Iraq. During a patrol in Ramada, his squad took small arms fire and he was killed. John is survived by his son Austin, father Clayton, and his siblings- Frederick, Susan, Frances, Ricky, Alma, and Jasmine Trotter. He will be buried in Arlington National Cemetery in addition to a memorial service that will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the First Methodist Church in Houston at Main and Clay.
