ASHLYN LEIGH SHOEMAKER, born, May 20, 1990, died April 21, 2005. Ashlyn is the anglicized version of the Celtic name Aislinn, which means vision or dream. Ashlyn was indeed a dream. She enchanted everyone she touched. She was the rare combination of compassion, intelligence and beauty. In her young life, she had done so much. She wrote her poems. She sang her songs. She painted her scenes. She acted in her plays. She experienced other cultures and rode beautiful waves in azure waters. She traveled to twenty-eight states and three countries. She had perused uncounted zoos, museums, fine restaurants and shopping malls. She personified the spirit of aloha and was an example to us all. She touched people. An only child, she is preceded in death by her grandmother, June Roventini. Survived by her mother and bonus-father, Crissy and Joel Helmke; father, Steven Shoemaker; grandparents, Don Roventini, Susie Moore, Roy and Brenda Moore, Mike and Lee Smith, George and Kathy Helmke; great-grandmother, Nancy Patterson.
