Stoer, Russell L.
Russell L. Stoer, age 85, formerly of 6905 Hwy. 147, Two Rivers, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 3, 2013.
Russell was born in Two Rivers on March 16, 1928. He was the only child born to the late Walter & Viola ( Schmoock) Stoer. He attended schools in Two Rivers, and was a graduate of Washington High School with the class of 1945. On May 3, 1947, he was married to Joyce Bohm at St. John's Lutheran Church in Two Rivers. She preceded him in death October 27, 2009. Russell was a lifelong farmer, owning and operating Stoer Dairy Farms until Joyce's death. Stoer Dairy was the last family farm in Manitowoc County who processed their own milk; and Russell was also the last person to offer door-to-door milk delivery service. He enjoyed hunting, playing sheepshead, and more recently playing bingo; he also bowled with several teams over the years; and was an avid reader and former trap-shooter. Russell was a fun-loving, easy going guy who also enjoyed spending time at his cottage in Dykesville.
He is survived by three sons & two daughters-in-law, Kevin Stoer of Two Rivers, Kurt (Rosie) Stoer of Roseville, Calif., Kris (Lisa) Stoer of Two Rivers; one daughter & son-in-law, Lora (Jerry) Valenta of Two Rivers; four grandchildren: Dr. Nicky (Clinton) Theiss-Kent, Deanna Theiss & her husband, Joshua Kosanovich, Emily (Larry) Stoer-Craig, and Melanie Stoer; two great grandchildren, James and Logan Craig; one sister-in-law, Vonnie Daetz of Two Rivers, and a nephew, Brian Daetz. In addition to his parents, and wife, Joyce, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Earl Daetz; and a niece, Brenda Webster.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 6, 2013 at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, 17th and East Park St., Two Rivers. Officiating at the service will be Rev. Daniel Walters, with entombment to take place at Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum, Hwy. 310, Manitowoc.
The family will greet relatives and friends at St. John's Lutheran Church, Monday morning, May 6, 2013, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. There will be no visitation held this evening.

My sympathies go out to the entire family and friends of Russell.
The passing of an era and the patriarch of a family known for class and setting the bar high. One of a kind.
As a kid I didn't know who that friendly guy was that brought the great milk every morning but figured it was magic. In WI, it is.
Dwell warmly in the memories.
