Greening, Robert C.
Robert C. Greening, age 87, a Manitowoc resident, died Wednesday evening, April 30, 2014 at River Wood Estates, Manitowoc.
He was born on December 25, 1926 in Peshtigo, son of the late Charles R. and Esther (Smith) Greening. Bob was a Veteran of the United States Army 1945 -1946 serving during World War II in Hawaii. On October 16, 1948 he married the former Theresa L. Audit in Marinette, WI. She preceded him in death on November 15, 2012. Bob was employed at Manitowoc Cranes for many years until his retirement in 1989.
He was a member and officer of the Boilermakers union local 443 and involved with the operation of the union hall and bar in Manitowoc Rapids for many years. He was an avid bowler and had bowled in many leagues throughout Manitowoc. He was also involved with the Cub Scouts serving as cub master for the pack at Franklin School for 13 years. His hobbies included wood working and he made furniture and cabinetry, as well as many wooden toys for the grand children over the years.
Survivors include his four children and their spouses: Charles & Pat Greening, Appleton, Sue & Bill Mueller, Fox Point, Ron & R.K. Greening, Manitowoc, Carol & John Harmon, West Bend; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law: Larry & Marge Greening, Menominee, MI; and a brother-in-law: Ralph Sorenson, two sister-in laws, Lorraine Wangerin, Menominee, MI and Marie Holquist Menominee MI. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.
He was also preceded in death by a great granddaughter: Isabella Caires, grandson: Shaun Greening and a sister and brother-in-law: Isla & Howard Harper.
Cremation has occurred at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc, and Robert's cremated remains will be laid to rest at a later date.
