Schmitt, Ruth M.
Ruth M. Schmitt, age 91, of 3400 Yorkshire Lane, Manitowoc, died Thursday, November 29, 2012 at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc.
She was born on February 10, 1921 in Kewaunee County, daughter of the late Joseph T. and Helen (Alt) Hostak. Ruth was a graduate of Casco High School, Class of 1937, where she was the Class Valedictorian. On November 6, 1940 she married Aloysuis P. Schmitt at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Casco. He preceded her in death on September 3, 2006. She was employed at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc, for 20 years as a nurses assistant. Ruth was a past member of Catholic Women's Club, St. Paul Parish Women and was an active member of the Manitowoc Senior Center. Ruth was also an avid card player and a member of the Western Bohemian Fraternal Association, St. Francis of Assisi Parish and the St. Clare Society.
Survivors include four daughters and three sons-in-law: JoAnne Savage, Manitowoc, Ellen & Larry Jones, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Kathy & Mark Christopher, Oakland, Florida, Laurie & Bob Schumacher, Murphy, Texas; fifteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; a brother: Donald Hostak, Kewaunee; and two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law: Katherine Knox, Manitowoc and Eddie (Joan) Schmitt, Cleveland. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter: Sara Sue Savage; two sisters: Lillian Paplham, Elsie Luedtke; a brother: Joseph Hostak Jr.; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 3, 2012 at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Dave Pleier with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Honored to be her pallbearers will be: Joe Savage, Brian Belitz, Chris Giesen, Kevin Kizewski, Kenny Kizewski and Doug Jones.
The family will greet relatives and friends at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Sunday, December 2, 2012. A prayer service will be held at 4:00 p.m. led by Deacon Alan Boeldt. Friends may also call Monday morning at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, Manitowoc, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m.

Grandma - Mark, Meghan and I will miss you very much. During the years you have helped guide me during trying times in my life. Your advice, love and support have made me a better person. I want you to know I will take very good care of your China. I will pass it down to my daughter and one day on to her children. You will not only be in my heart forever but you have contributed a peice of you to my holiday dinner table. Thank you for all you have done! I love you always. Please give grandpa a hug from us.

I'm Sure we will all miss Aunt Ruth's sharp witt and humor. She always seemed to get the last word in didn't she ? Rest well in God's peace Aunt Ruth. You will know no more pain or sorrow in Heaven ! We Love You and will see you there some day .
