Kohlmeier, Wayne E.
Wayne E. Kohlmeier, age 77, of Two Rivers, died on Friday morning, February15, 2013, at the Hamilton Care Center, Two Rivers.
Wayne was born June 4, 1935, in Two Rivers, son of the late Elmer and Agnes (Mueller) Kohlmeier. He was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School with the class of 1954. After high school, he joined the Naval Reserve in Sheboygan. Then he joined the National Guard in Manitowoc during which time he attended the Wisconsin Military Academy where he graduated as second lieutenant. He became commanding officer of the National Guard in Two Rivers, 32nd Unit. He was also attached to the National Guard in Madison ending his military service of 35 plus years at the Army Reserve in Manitowoc at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
On June 25, 1955, Wayne married the former Marlene Simono at St. Luke Catholic Church in Two Rivers. He was employed at Manitowoc Equipment Works, Hamilton Industries, Two Rivers, Nemschoff Chairs, Sheboygan, and Color Craft Graphics Arts in Manitowoc, retiring in 2003. In his spare time, Wayne enjoyed fishing, gardening, and also designing several homes and buildings in the Manitowoc County area most notably the Lakeshore Humane Society. He was a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Marlene Kohlmeier, Two Rivers, two daughters and one son: Kim (Fernando) Guerrero, Tani (Greg Olson) Kohlmeier; and Brian (Wendy Kappleman) Kohlmeier; six grandchildren: Seth Hietpas (Fiancé, Amanda Ellerman), Tashiana, Cecilia and Anahi Guerrero, and Jake and Zak Kohlmeier; sister: Sandra (Burdell) Rust; sister-in-law: Sharon Wojta; and brother-in-law: Gerald Strebel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-in-law, sister-in-law, and brother-in-law.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2013, at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Tom Reynebeau. Wayne has been cremated at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc, and entombment will be at Knollwood Mausoleum. Military Honors will be accorded by the Two Rivers VFW and American Legion.
The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
