James J. Stradal Sr. age 90, formerly of Branch and a resident of the Manitowoc Health & Rehabilitation Center died early Monday morning March 10, 2014 at the Holy Family Memorial Medical Center.

Jim was born on February 28, 1924 in the Town of Franklin, son of the late Joseph and Marcella (Zeman) Stradal. He attended local schools. Jim served his country in the United States Army serving from August 29, 1944 until July 2, 1946. On June 14, 1947 Jim was married to Ruth "Boots" Staudinger at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Clarks Mills. The couple celebrated 65 years of marriage and Boots preceded him in death on December 8, 2012. The couple farmed at Branch and Jim worked for the Manitowoc Shipbuilding Company for three years and retired on April 3, 1987 from the Mirro Company after 42 years. Jim enjoyed woodworking, deer hunting and going up North and riding the pontoon boat.

Jim is a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joseph Holy Name Society and served as an usher. He was a life member and past commander of Kubale-O'Connell VFW Post #6179 of Kellnersville, Whitelaw Branch Senior Citizens, past president and snowmobile safety course instructor of the Whitelaw Branch Snowmobile Club, 4-H Dairy Leader for the Branch Busy Bees. Jim was a member of the Branch Fire Department since 1951 and served as Fire Chief, past secretary of the Manitowoc Fire Fighters Association, WI Fire Inspectors Association, WI Fire Chiefs Association and served as the State Fire Inspector for the Town of Manitowoc Rapids for over twenty years.

He is survived by one son: Jim Stradal Jr. and Gail Freitag of Crivitz and his children and grandchildren: Jim (Tammy) Stradal (Phillip & Miranda); Jeremy (Lana) Stradal (MaKayla); Josh (Heidi) Stradal (Gavin, Abby & Jack); Jacob (Jody) Stradal; one daughter and son-in-law: Cindy (Wayne) Novy of Whitelaw and their children and grandchildren: Jamie Novy (Jadelyn); Joe (Sheila) Novy (Emma, Mallory & Dylan); Jackie Novy and her fiancé: Donnie Whetung; one son-in-law: Kenneth Porubcansky of Whitelaw and his children and grandchild: Randy Porubcansky and Brenda Koeser (Shiloh); Jason Porubcansky; one sister and brother-in-law: Betty (Vic) Kvitek, Maribel; four sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law: Germaine Stradal, Whitelaw; Ed (Eileen) Staudinger Jr., Clarks Mills; Corrine Staudinger, Clarks Mills; Joyce Rhode, Whitelaw, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: Joseph and Marcella Stradal; his wife: Ruth "Boots" Stradal; his daughter: Nancy Porubcansky; one brother: Joseph Stradal; one sister and brother-in-law: Mary Ann (Richard) Rhode; six brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law: Leonard (Caroline) Staudinger; Paul Staudinger; Gladys (Adolph) Bergel; Bernice (Ed) Glaeser; Dorothy (Howard) Birkholz and John Rhode.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 14, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kellnersville. The Rev. Ronald Colombo will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with burial to follow at the parish cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by Kubale-O'Connell VFW Post #6179 of Kellnersville.
