Rutherford, Perry K.

Perry K. Rutherford, age 77, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life following a brief battle with cancer on Monday, January 21, 2013 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center in Manitowoc.

Perry was born on October 6, 1935 in Manitowoc to the late Kenneth and Bertha Pautz Rutherford. He graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1954. Perry then entered the United States Navy and served overseas at the end of the Korean Conflict and the China Conflict. He then returned back to the United States upon his honorable discharge. Perry was employed as a semi-truck driver for many companies over the road. On December 6, 1958, Perry married Marge Klimesh at First German Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manitowoc. He was a bell ringer for the Salvation Army and had volunteered for Holy Family Memorial Medical Center. Perry was a die-hard loyal fan of the Green Bay Packers. He was a season ticket holder, collected countless Packer memorabilia, and enjoyed watching the games with his family and friends. Perry was a member of First German Evangelical Lutheran Church and VFW Otto Oas Post 659.

Survivors include Perry's wife of 54 years: Marge; three children: Kathy Rutherford, Kevin "Rooty" (Arlet) Rutherford, and Kurt Rutherford, all of Manitowoc; three grandchildren: Misty, Tabitha, and Xavier; two great grandchildren: Alandra and Buddy; one brother: Jim (Susan) Rutherford, Stafford, VA; two sisters-in-law: Helen Rutherford and Arlene Klimesh, both of Manitowoc; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Perry was preceded in death by his parents; son: Kenny; brother: Bob; brother-in-law: Dan Klimesh; and his beloved dog, Patches.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Thursday, January 24, 2013 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. The visitation will continue on Friday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Rev. Benjamin Schaefer will officiate and military rites will then be accorded by VFW Otto Oas Post 659 at the funeral home. Following the service, cremation will take place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel with burial of Perry's cremated remains at Evergreen Cemetery at a later date.
