John M. "Mickey" Lawler

Two Rivers, Wisconsin - John M. "Mickey" Lawler, age 87, a lifelong Two Rivers resident, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2019 at Tender Reflections Assisted Living Facility of Manitowoc.

He was born June 24, 1931 in Two Rivers, son of the late Harley and Anna (Vanderbusch) Lawler. Mickey attended Washington High School, Two Rivers, graduating with the class of 1951. After graduation, he went on to earn an Associate's Degree from Chicago Tech. Mickey enlisted in the United States Army, serving and being wounded in the Korean Conflict. On October 16, 1953, he married the former Elizabeth "Bette" Saunders in Crown Point, Indiana. She preceded him in death on January 24, 2018. Together, the couple owned and operated Lawler's Quality Reality and Lawler's Quality Homes. In his younger years, He played football for the Two Rivers Ramblers and the Manitowoc Chiefs and also Boxed Semi-Professionally. Mickey was a member of many organizations including the Disabled American Veterans, Master Builders, MAW-CAL Builders, Two Rivers Lions Club, the Lakeshore Lutheran Chorale, Lakeshore Curling Club, Green Bay Curling Club, and Our Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church. He raised Golden Retrievers and Arabian horses and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Mickey also enjoyed camping, boating, 4-wheeling, snowmobiling and spending time at his cottage in Shoto. One of his great accomplishments was Designing and developing Whispering Hills Estates. Above all, he loved his family and even donated a kidney to his daughter, Lisa.

Survivors include one son: Larry (Diana) Lawler and their son Josh, California; one daughter: Laurie Becker (Robert Ernst), Two Rivers; three grandchildren: Nicole (Seth) Rezba, Melissa (Jason) Wiesner, and William (Kristine) Becker; and their father: William Becker Sr. (Ellen); five great-grandchildren: Alexa, Marissa, Mackenzie, Brantley, Morgan and one more on the way; and three sisters-in-law: Beatrice Lawler, Two Rivers, Carol Menza, Hillside, NJ, and Betty Saunders, Two Rivers. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He is preceded in death by his wife: Elizabeth "Bette" Lawler; one daughter: Lisa Lawler; his parents; three brothers: Dan Lawler, Floyd (Dorothy) Lawler, and Robert (Esther) Lawler; four sisters: Betty and Ruth Lawler, Gladys (Samuel) Mckenna, Rose Sorge, and Helen (Victor) Walters; his mother-in-law and father-in-law: Morten & Florence Saunders; two brothers-in-law: Bill Saunders and Al Menza; and one sister-in-law: Marcie Saunders.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Our Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church, Two Rivers. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Keith Tullberg. Mickey will be laid to rest at Knollwood Mausoleum, Town of Kossuth. Military rites will be accorded by the Two Rivers VFW Post #1248 and American Legion Post #165.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Our Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church, Two Rivers.
