Laverne J. Beth

Laverne J. Beth, age 81, of 3804 Martin Lane, Two Rivers, died Thursday morning, April 18, 2013, at Aurora Medical Center, Manitowoc County.

Laverne was born January 13, 1932, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Roman and Emma (Franzmeier) Kolanczyk. She graduated from Manitowoc Lincoln High School with the class of 1950, and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1954, earning a Bachelor of Science in elementary education and sociology. She furthered her education at UCLA and Silver Lake College. On June 23, 1956, she married Roy Beth at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Manitowoc. Laverne was an elementary teacher in Long Beach, CA and Sheboygan. She was also a Special Education teacher and substitute teacher with the Two Rivers School District for 11 years. Laverne was a Girl Scout leader, member of the PTO, Band Boosters, Teacher-Naturalist at Woodland Dunes, a member of the Two Rivers Historical Society and the Two Rivers Senior Center. She enjoyed reading, traveling, volunteering, and the Monday morning Kaffee Klatsch.

Survivors include her husband, Roy Beth, Two Rivers, one daughter and a son-in-law: Barbara and Scott Klemme, Sheboygan; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Shirley and Richard Steinhauer, Two Rivers; former sister-in-law: LaVerne Kolanczyk, Two Rivers; nephews: Steve (Lisa) Steinhauer, Robert Steinhauer, nieces: Kim (Jim) Jung, Kelly (Harold) Schleis, Kris Kolanczyk, Amanda Kolanczyk; several cousins, great nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Laverne was preceded in death by infant sons, Karl and David; and one brother and sister-in-law: Allan and Lindy Kolanczyk.

Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, April 21, 2013, at Klein and Stangel Funeral Home, 1420 22nd Street, Two Rivers. Officiating at the service will be Deacon Bob Drobka. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers, on Monday, April 22, 2013.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Sunday, at Klein & Stangel Funeral Home, Two Rivers, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:45 p.m.
