Capraro, Paul W. "Cappy"

Paul W. "Cappy" Capraro, age 92, of 904 Bellevue Place, Two Rivers, died on Sunday afternoon, September 15, 2013 at the Hamilton Care Center, Two Rivers.

Paul was born in Shawano, WI on October 26, 1920 to the late Paul E. and Antoinette (Buelow) Capraro, Sr. He attended grade school in what is now the Two Rivers City Hall, Roosevelt Grade School, and the newly built Koening elementary school. He graduated from Washington High in Two Rivers with the class of 1938. Paul then worked at Hamilton Mfg. Co. until enlisting in the U.S. Army on May 5, 1942. He was sent to Bloomington, Ill. to the Midwest motor trade school and was assigned to 1st Army as a medium maintenance mechanic. He later re-enlisted in the Army Air Corps Cadet Program and was sent to Wittenberg College in Illinois where he also played in the military band. Paul then served in the Pacific Theater, and after 3 years and 8 months was discharged on January 6, 1946. On July 6, 1946, he married Elizabeth "Betty" Williquette who preceded him in death on August 12, 1972. He then married Arlene M. (Menges) Petrashek on October 19, 1983 in Two Rivers. She also preceded him in death on January 9, 2004. Paul and Arlene walked many miles together over the years, and they always enjoyed a beautiful garden.

Paul worked at Senglaub Motors in Two Rivers from 1946 until being hired on by Two Rivers Public Works Dept. on Sept. 20, 1948 as an equipment maintenance mechanic. He was promoted to garage & storeroom foreman in 1968 and to Public Works foreman in 1974. He retired on Dec. 31, 1982. Paul had many hobbies including: woodworking, model airplanes & radio controlled boats. He belonged to the NRA, the VFW, and the Two Rivers Senior Center for many years, and was an accomplished archer who enjoyed the outdoors. If you ever needed anything fixed, you could always ask Paul. He didn't believe in selling his time or labor, but would do anything he could for you as a friend.

Survivors include a son & two daughters-in-law, Dave and Julie Capraro of Lewistown, Montana, and Jolene Mauer of Two Rivers; his step-children, Gail and Mike Eckerman, Jane and Steve Pries, Cindy Boudroux, Tracy and Steve Lettenberger, Glenn Petrashek, Terry and Sandy Petrashek; a brother-in-law, Donald (Shirley) Williquette; nephew, Michael (Debbie) Williquette; and a niece, Kay (Todd) Hillner. In addition to his parents, his first wife and his second wife, he was also preceded in death by one son, William Capraro, April 28, 1972; and one sister, Dolores Engel.

In accordance with Paul's wishes there were no funeral services held. His cremated remains have been laid to rest next to his first wife Betty in Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to the Two Rivers Senior Center.
