Ivan "Ike" Healy
March 20, 1926 - January 27, 2015
Ivan "Ike" Healy, 88, of Caldwell, died Tuesday, January 27, 2015. He was born on March 20, 1926 to Guy F. and Iva Healy in Leonel, OK.
Ike's family moved to Idaho when he was a small child and he started first grade in Huston, ID and then transferred into the Caldwell School District. After leaving school he moved to Portland, OR and worked in the shipyards. He joined the U.S. Marines during WWII in 1944. He was part of the 2nd Marine Division and saw action at Okinawa, Ryukyu Islands in Japan. He was honorably discharged in 1946.
He married Donna Jasper on September 15, 1962 and they had a daughter, Barbara and three sons: Daryl Ray, Tim Duane, and Donald Dale. He enjoyed wood carving and was awarded "Wood Carver of the Year" a few years back. Ike worked in Gooding, ID. for a few years and returned to Caldwell, working as a mechanic for Anderson Studebaker Garage and then Burns & Lanny Berg Chevrolet.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Healy, 3 sons: Daryl (Kathy Barret) Healy, Tim (Christine) Healy and Donnie Healy, all of Caldwell; granddaughters: Brooke Healy, of Caldwell and Suzanna Healy of Eagle, a sister, Virginia Lair of Emmett, ID. and his dog Tuffy. Ike is preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara, his parents, his brother Ervin "Smokey" (Agnes) Healy.
Graveside Funeral Services with Military Honors for Ivan will be held on Monday, February 2, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Canyon Hill Cemetery in Caldwell. Memorials may be made in his memory to the Shriners Hospital; 1275 E. Fairfax Rd. Salt Lake City, UT. 84103. Condolences may be given at www.Flahifffuneralchapel.com.
