Eugene "Gene" Dale Johnson Jr.
January 29, 1955 - November 13, 2016
After 61 years full of life and love, Eugene Dale Johnson Jr. went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 13th. He was surrounded by his family and was at peace following his battle with cancer.
Gene was born in Heidelberg, Germany on January 29th, 1955 to Eugene Dale Johnson Sr. and Josephine Marian Langston. He grew up in Douglas, AZ and many scraped knees, loud laughs, and precious memories later he graduated from Douglas Senior high School in 1973. Following high school he dedicated five years of his life fiercely serving our country as a proud U.S. Marine Corps Corporal.
Although Douglas had a special place in his heart, Idaho became Gene's home. In Caldwell he built a business of 25 years, Gene's Tile, and always upheld the values of honesty, hard work, and dedication. He spent countless hours in his work, but his family and his faith were the most important aspects of his life. He rests in blissful content experiencing such love.
Gene was a compassionate man with a zest for living life and enjoyed spending his time outdoors, going to BSU games, and caring for animals. His humor, gentle spirit, and strong mind will be missed.
His soul will live on through his six children Robert Long, Genevieve Kelley, Kimberly Wilbur, Jeanine Gill, Eugene Johnson III, and Ivy Johnson; six grandchildren; former spouse and mother of his children, Joan (Gastineau); his siblings Betty, Helen, Mary, Michael, and Danny; his children's' spouses which he loved as his own; and his faithful dog, Ellie. Gene was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Joseph and Billy.
He did not want people to say he lost his battle to cancer as he was a strong fighter, but an even stronger lover.
He will be laid to rest at the Idaho State Veteran's Cemetery on Thursday at 11:00 AM followed by a service and reception hosted by Christian Faith Center at 1:30 PM.
"And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:7
