Frances Amy Daron
September 21, 1922 - September 8, 2013
Frances of Nampa passed away peacefully at a local care facility Sunday September 8, 2013 after a lengthy illness at age 90.
Frances Amy Des Jardins was born on the family farm in Filion, Michigan the 5th of 9 children of Samuel and Ruth Des Jardins.
Frances graduated from Kinde High School and entered her teaching career while still high school substituting for an ill teacher for a week at the request of the school superintendent.
It was at an ice skating party one winter when she met Ed Nelson who she married in 1942. Ed was in the air force and they travelled to many places all over the U.S. and Japan.
In 1945 their only child, Connie was born in San Antonio, Texas. Ed was killed in a B-36 Air Force plane crash on April 15, 1952 in Spokane, Washington.
Fran continued her college education at Central Michigan College in Mt. Pleasant where she met and married Rudy Robles in 1954. Rudy was employed by the U.S. Forest Service in the summer and went to Oregon State College for two winters. Upon Rudy's graduation in 1957 they moved to Lakeview, Oregon where Rudy was employed at the Fremont National Forest and Frances taught school in a one room school house in Adel, Oregon.
On August 21, 1959 Frances and Rudy adopted a son Daniel Reyes and two years later adopted another son Randolph Samuel in 1961.
They subsequently moved to Corvallis, Waldport and Prospect, Oregon. Rudy and Frances divorced and she moved back to Lakeview, Oregon where she taught 2nd grade at Bullard school until her retirement.
Frances Daron married Merton Daron in 1967. Merton immediately adopted Dan and Randy. They made their home in Lakeview, Oregon and Yuma, Arizona.
Merton passed away in 1991 and Frances moved to Silvercrest Estates in Nampa.
Frances travelled extensively during her retirement both in the US, including Alaska and Hawaii and to Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and the Panama Canal.
Frances enjoyed fishing, quilting, card playing, rock hunting and was a dedicated hospice volunteer for many years.
Frances was preceded in death by both parents, 7 brothers and sisters and good friend and companion Frank Fuss.
She is survived by her daughter Connie (John) Blayney of Caldwell, sons; Dan Daron of Nampa, Randy (Nona) Daron of Mill Valley, California, brother Ron (Diane) Des Jardins of Bozeman, Montana. Stepsons: Bert (Donna) Daron, Ron (Cecelia) Daron both of Arizona, and a step daughter Elise Mayes of Baker, Oregon and several grandchildren.
Family requests no flowers but encourages contributions to St. Lukes Hospice 190 East Bannock St. Boise, ID 83712.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Autumn Winds for their care and kindness during her stay there. Also thanks to St. Lukes Hospice for their care and compassion.
Frances' memorial graveside service for Frances will be held Thursday, September 12, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell, Idaho. Services are under the care of Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
