Margaret "Lynn" Kilmer

Margaret "Lynn" M. Kilmer
January 30, 1923 - September 15, 2013
Margaret Marilyn Theresa Thompson Kilmer, 90, of Nampa, Idaho, gently passed on with family at her side, on September 15, 2013.
"Lynn", as she came to be known, was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on January 30, 1923, and spent her adventurous childhood in Atlantic City, New Jersey. She graduated from Atlantic City High in 1941, and never tired of telling tales of those "times of her life". Lynn treasured her girlhood memories and special old friends, many with whom she kept in touch until her death.
During World War II while working for the American Red Cross, she met Reid Francis Kilmer, who was returning home after serving with distinction in the Army Air Corps in Europe and Africa. Striking a perfect match-the dashing war hero convinced Lynn not only to be his wife, but to head out with him to the "wild, wild west". With a newborn son and car-full of worldly possessions, the couple set out for Nampa, Idaho, Reid's hometown.
Once settled, Lynn and Reid added three more Kilmers to their nest, while she busied herself as a scout leader, PTA President, writer/producer/director of children's puppet shows, renowned birthday party hostess, super seamstress and knitter, and activist for Democrats for Kennedy, working at campaign headquarters in the old Dewey Palace Hotel. Later on, Lynn worked as an administrative assistant for the Canyon County Public Health Department, and was thrilled with an actual paycheck. She was a founding member of the infamous "Golden Hearts" Bridge Club, and along with Reid, of Nampa's Broadmore Country Club. In recent years, she was an active and energetic member of the "Red Hearts Society", and a diehard Gonzaga basketball fan. ("Go Zags!") The petite, feisty woman lived life to the fullest until the very end.
Lynn is preceded in death by her husband Reid, her parents, and her beloved maternal grandmother, Katherine Galen, who raised her. Grandma Galen inspired her to be the delightfully unique woman we will all remember-and dearly miss.
Surviving are the loves of her life: Partner/Pet: Poor, Pitiful Pearl "Pearlie". Children: Reid Francis, Jr."Biff" (Cheryl), Deborah Katherine, Nancy Lynn (Preston), and Gregory Lyle. Grandchildren: Andrew Nelson (Kim), Daniel Raymond, Ryan Scott (Kim), Ashley Marie (Cam), Brittany Lynn, Caitlin Reid, and John Preston, "J.P.". Great Grand Children: Davis Reid, Benson Shane, and Tytan Connor. Niece: Corrie Cron (Jim) and family. Cousin: Joseph "Joey" Rifice (Ginny).
A funeral mass to celebrate Lynn's wonderful life will be held on Thursday, September 26th at 12:00 noon at Saint Paul's Catholic Church, 510 West Roosevelt Avenue in Nampa, followed by a luncheon for family and friends.
Contributions in Lynn's memory may be made to St. Paul's Catholic School, 1515 8th Street South, Nampa, Idaho 83651-4703, where her four children received an excellent education, or to Family Home Health and Hospice, c/o Steve Horton, 2950 East Magic View Drive, Suite 100, Meridian, Idaho 83642.
The Kilmer family extends their heartfelt appreciation for the exceptional care and concern the hospice staff provided them and their tenacious mother.
Here's to a long and great life!
