Val Feller

Val R. Feller
Val R. Feller, a local entrepreneur, died February 24, 2014 in Nampa, Idaho at the age of 85. He was born February 14, 1929 to Felix and Minnie Hansen Feller in Weston, Idaho. Val had a happy childhood on the farm and graduated from West Side High in 1947. He then served a two and half year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Switzerland where he developed a great love for the land of his ancestry and for our Savior. Returning home, he attended Utah State University. Val married Lael "S" Allen in the Logan Utah LDS Temple on July 16, 1952. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a chauffeur and interpreter in the East Berlin Zone. After being honorably discharged in 1954 Val and Lael moved to Caldwell, Idaho where they raised six children.
Val began his business ventures at Dairyman's Creamery hauling milk (in cans) and then hauled potatoes and grain as Val Feller Trucking. Because Val was a unique and creative innovator he established the Chalet Amusement Center in 1960 as part of a business class in the College of Idaho. He opened Crown Tire Service in 1963. He started Regal Trampolines in the late 1970's, which was a very successful business for him. He loved visiting with people, always giving advice and his opinion. He continued traveling to his shop daily until his death, selling his last trampoline the day he died.
Val was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings, but especially liked missionary work and the Boy Scouts. Many young men have fond memories of their time spent with him. He loved traveling to observe and ponder new ideas. He was very creative and enjoyed expressing his ideas in writing.
Val was preceded in death by his parents, all of his siblings and one grandson. He is survived by his wife Lael, his six children: DeAnn (Craig) Warrick of Idaho, Melanie (Darwin) Petersen of Kansas, Carolyn (Rick) Walker of North Carolina, Kurt (Marie) Feller of California, Anita (Frank) Shuman of Utah and Lori (Sean) MacGregor of Oregon, 22 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, as well as many close special nephews, nieces and friends.
