Alva Leota Bottoms
February 13, 1923 - March 17, 2015
Alva Leota (Lacer) Bottoms passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at home. Alva was born February 13, 1923, the third child of nine born to Clarence Henry Lacer and Jossie Bell (Lemmons) Lacer in Rosston, Oklahoma. The family moved to Caldwell, Idaho in 1940 looking for better jobs. While working on a farm she met Joe Cooper Bottoms (1919-1992). They were married October 3, 1945. To this union were born seven children: Earnest, Joyce, Wayne, Darlene, Clair, Connie, and Kaylene.
Alva was a full-time mother but worked and helped support her family in times of need. When her children were young, she made most of her daughters' clothes and her sons' shirts. Later in life she was an avid quilter and made hundreds of quilts for her children, grandchildren and friends. She embroidered pillowcases and gave them to family members and friends. She donated hundreds of knit baby caps to local hospitals' NICU.
When asked if she had any regrets she said, "I don't have any regrets with my life; although, I wouldn't wish those hard times on anyone."
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; her parents, 4 brothers, and 3 sisters.
She is survived by her 7 children, 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren, and a sister.
