Alyce Faye Carter
January 23, 1939 - March 13, 2016
Alyce Faye Carter, January 23, 1939 - March 13, 2016. Alyce, 77, of Nampa, passed away peacefully at her home Sunday, March 13, 2016 after battling Alzheimer's. Alyce was born in Ogallala, Nebraska; One of 7 children, 5 biological and 2 adoptive, to William (Bill) & Helen Mayden. The family later moved to Nyssa, Oregon where she was raised and graduated high school. After high school she moved to Caldwell, Idaho where she worked as a waitress and she met her husband James W. Carter. Together they made their home permanently in Nampa, Idaho where they raised 3 children. She was a strong willed, unselfish, helping anyone in need without question; putting their needs before hers. Her home was open to any relative that needed a loving place during difficult times. Her three children always had friends around and once someone asked how many children she had and she replied 'six'. Realizing she actually only had three, she laughingly corrected herself.
Alyce loved music and had a beautiful singing voice. She could play many instruments; guitar, violin, piano, organ, and the accordion. She once heard a new song on the radio, came home and over the next few days wrote the music notes onto paper from memory for her and her husband to play together on guitar. She enjoyed bowling on the Nampa bowling league where she earned many trophies as a member of the 'Bulldog Babes'.
Alyce proudly worked for almost 32 years at the Carnation/Nestle/Simplot potato plant in Nampa, Idaho until her retirement. However, her family was her reason for life. She was so loved and will be remembered and missed every single day.
Alyce was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, a sister and a grandson James Michael Dutton. She is survived by her husband James (Butch) ; children - Daniel Carter, Deborah Carter and Linda Dutton, son-in-law Michael (Mike) Dutton; grandchildren - Alexia Wardell, April Horak, Brittnie Dutton and Reece Carter & great-grandchildren.
The Carter/Dutton families would like to thank Hospice nurses and staff as well as the home care givers who helped during the past year. A joint memorial service for James and Alyce will be held March 23, 2016, 10:00 am at Bowman Funeral Parlor, Garden City, Idaho. Interment will be at a later date at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell.
