Ava Jane Katherine Cravens
July 4, 1920 - March 20, 2015
Our beloved mother and grandmother, Ava Jane Katherine (Spurrier) Cravens, 94, of Nampa, passed away Friday, March 20, 2015.
Ava Jane was born July 4, 1920 in Green, KS to Olivia and Furron Spurrier. She was the 5th of 7 children and lived on a farm outside Green until she married Willard Cravens March 7, 1936. They moved to Randolph, KS, where daughters, Elsie and Babe were born.
After leaving Kansas the family moved to Idaho. From 1950 to 1962 they operated the Walter's Ferry Service at the Snake River bridge south of Melba. Daughters Cathy and Cris were born during that time. They then moved to Boise, Nampa and in 1971 to Port Angeles, WA where they spent 30 years in retirement fishing with family and friends before returning to Idaho in 2001 to be with family.
Ava Jane was a member of Senior Citizens, weekly bridge clubs, Newcomers and Sojourners in Port Angeles. All of this had to coordinate with Willard's fishing schedule. She won an outboard motor one year in the Port Angeles Fishing Derby.
She is survived by her daughters, Elsie DeMille, Babe Proesch - passed away on March 25, 2015, Cathy (Randy) Anderson and Cris (Spence) Skyles. She also has 9 surviving grandchildren. Kent Proesch, Sheryl (Tony) Lococo, Monte Tucker, Brandi (Aaron) Blake, Austin (Kelly) Skyles, Misti Anderson, Ky (Morgan) Skyles, Dustin (Mellissa) Anderson, Keaton (Krista) Skyles and multiple great and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard, all of her brothers and sisters and two grandsons, Craig Proesch and Ryan Tucker.
The family would like to give a special thanks to aides Liz and Todd and Nurses Deborah and Sylvia at Sunnyridge for taking such great and loving care of our mother for the last two years. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Pet Haven or the Salvation Army.
