Betty Lea Kessler, 94, passed away peacefully on March 20th at Garnet Place in Boise. Betty was born November 22, 1922 in Caldwell, Idaho, the only child of the late Fred and Julia Lewis.
Betty lived in Caldwell all of her life. She graduated from Caldwell High School and attended the College of Idaho for several years. She met and married John (Jack) Herold Kessler on June 5th, 1948. They were happily married almost sixty four years. Betty's first priority was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Jack and Betty were active members all their lives at the First Christian Church in Caldwell. One of their favorite things to do together was travel all over the world and spend time at their cabin near New Meadows.
Betty is survived by her two daughters, Judy Kessler Hansen and Sue Kessler ORorke; her grandsons, Woody (Farrell) Kessler, Scott (Nikki) Hansen, John (Denae) ORorke, Eric (Cristina) Hansen; granddaughters Sara Kessler, Megan (Nate) Chatellier, Keri (Kyle) Kirsch, Chelsea (Robert) Dedlow; and eleven great-grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her husband and their son, John Charles Kessler.
There will be a private graveside service for immediate family members at the Canyon Hill Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her last days at Garnet Place. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent in her name to Pet Haven, 619 Main St. Caldwell, ID 83605, or to Boise Rescue Mission, 308 S. 24th St., Boise, Idaho.
