Bill D. Smyser
Bill D. Smyser, at the age of 79, gently and peacefully left this world on October 27, 2015, while surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born March 24, 1936, in Telluride, Colorado. As a teenager he moved to and quickly adopted Nampa, Idaho as his hometown. He attended Notus High School where he graduated in 1953. It was in Nampa that he met and fell in love with his one and forever love, Elsie. They were married on May 29, 1957. They had met while both working at Montgomery Ward and continued working together through retirement. Bill became the top troubleshooter manager for Karl's shoe store. After many years, Bill and Elsie became apartment managers in Utah and Colorado. Upon retirement, he and his wife returned to Nampa, Idaho where he continued to work part-time in numerous schools. Bill's first love was his adoring and loving wife, Elsie. Together they truly were one, and they were always together. Bill was a man that set the standard as a husband, father and grandfather. He was loved by and devoted to his family. Bill was a compassionate and loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, friend and neighbor. He was always there to help anyone that needed it. Bill was a kind and good-natured man with a tremendously quick wit and a warm and gentle spirit. Bill was an accomplished and avid fly fisherman who loved the outdoors and camping with his wife. He had a natural artistic talent which he used to create everything from tying his own flies for fly fishing to building miniature lighthouses and log cabins. This was a talent he shared with his brother, Robert. He is survived by his wife, Elsie, daughters Donna, Tracie and DeAnn, his brother, Robert, 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and an infant daughter, Tina. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, individuals make donations to their favorite Charity.
