Bjorn Ake Dahlin
05-03-1941 - 02-11-2016
1941-2016 Bjorn (Swede) Dahlin joined the heavenly ranks after a valiant fight to remain with his wife and family for as long as he could while here on this earth. He was surrounded by so much love when he departed on February 11, 2016. Though we have not lost Bjorn, we know exactly where he is, we do dearly miss him and look forward to the day we will see him again.
Bjorn was born in Stockholm, Sweden May 3, 1941. Bjorn's formal education included learning the English language along with his other studies. After leaving home at the young age of 16, he trained as a Chef but needed more excitement. He developed an interest in war and upon hearing about the United Nations organizing a peace keeping army in Cyprus, he volunteered to go.
Upon his return to Sweden, Bjorn had decided to join the U.S. armed forces and help fight communism in Viet Nam. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and began infantry, weapons and sniper training. After completing his tour of duty, he was ordered to train new recruits in San Diego.
Bjorn worked for J.I. Morgan Logging Co. after a comrade-in-arms invited him to his home in the Rocky Mountains of Idaho. He attended Conqueror's Bible College in Portland, Oregon shortly after his conversion to Chrisitanity. He met and married his wife of 42 years, Sherrie Breshears after graduating from CBC in 1973. They moved to McCall, Idaho where their two beautiful daughters were born, Kristina (George) Kloser and Shirley (Lewis) Banks.
Bjorn's love for people and for the Lord spurred him on to return to his homeland of Sweden where he evangelized for 5 years! After being interviewed on "This is Your Life" television program for celebrities and people of special interest, Bjorn's life story was published in Swedish and later translated into English and can be found on
Honoring a promise to return to his beloved church family in McCall, Idaho, Bjorn became McCall Christian Fellowship's pastor for 14 consecutive years. Upon retiring, Bjorn and Sherrie returned to Sweden for 2 years and then later moved to Bremerton, Washington. Bjorn became the driver for Claremont's Retirement Community and ministered wherever he went and all who knew him, loved him.
Retiring brought new interests in gardening and wood working. Bjorn was always willing to take on new learning curves and enjoyed construction and was able to purchase and remodel the home where the Dahlins currently reside.
Bjorn's parents Margareta Noreen and Gunnar Dahlin were divorced and are now deceased! He leaves behind a step-mom Barbro Dahlin, her son Peter Barth and her daughter Agneta! He has a surviving brother Benny Dahlin and half-brother Raoul Noreen and half-sisters Jane, Rita, and Lena all residing in Sweden. Bjorn also has 5 beautiful grandchildren: Anya Sheree, Mykah George, Azariah Victory, Righteous Israel, and Trinity Adaya.
The family of Bjorn Dahlin invites you to attend his Memorial Service in Bremerton, Washington on March 19th at Sylvan Way Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. Refreshments will be served. A second Memorial Service will be held in Nyssa, Oregon on March 22nd at the Lighthouse Church at 1:00 p.m. followed by a dinner reception. A graveside service will be held at Roswell Cemetery with full Military Honors.
A special thanks to Multi-Care Hospice of Kitsap County and a big thank you to Vicky, Willey, Karla, Chaplain Bob and Annetter who were part of the hospice team that cared for Bjorn during his illness. Also, a very big thank you to Bjorn's VA doctors, Dr. Salk and Dr. O'Hare!
