Bonnie Jean Pond
August 8, 1935 - June 13, 2015
Bonnie Jean Pond passed away on June 13th, 2015 at a local nursing home. Funeral services will be held at Cloverdale Funeral Home.
Bonnie was born in Boise, Idaho in 1935. She and her twin sister Barbara were the 6th and 7th of eight children of John and Pansy Mae Cain. In 1953, she married the love of her life, Kenneth Pond. Together they raised seven children.
Bonnie lived most of her life in Boise except for three years in Yellowpine, Idaho in the early 1960s. She was a homemaker until her youngest child began school. Bonnie then started her career at the US Soil Conservation Service. Bonnie held several jobs with the SCS and retired as an administrative assistant to the director in Boise. One of the volunteer jobs Bonnie had while at the SCS which gave her a lot of satisfaction was the Federal Woman's Program Coordinator. In this capacity, she helped women get promoted in a then male dominated work environment.
Bonnie attended West Side Bible Church and was a lifelong member there. West Side provided a brilliant canvas for her to explore her faith and love of God. Bonnie enjoyed bowling with her sisters and extended family. She bowled on leagues most of her adult life quitting finally in her 70s when her health declined. She was an ardent fan of her grandkids and loved watching them on the ball fields, plays, and recitals. Her grandkids were the stars; just ask her!
Bonnie's favorite activity was being with her family and extended family, exploring the mountains of Idaho. She and Ken loved taking the family fishing, hunting, cutting wood, hiking, berry picking, or mushrooming. Her favorite pastime was always when she had family around to share in laughter and food.
Bonnie is survived by her sons and daughter; Clarence and his wife Susan, Steve and his wife Paula, Chuck and his wife Meredith, Lenny, Lorrie and her husband Scott Pahl, Robbie and his wife Nancy; eleven grandchildren; Kristin, Kelli, Katie, Kevin, Kenny, Cody, Laci, Taegan, Briana, David, and Kealen; three great grandchildren; her sister Phylis; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mom will be remembered for her faith, love, compassion, meals prepared in the mountains, and the fudge she made at Christmas time.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband Ken, son Paul, father John, mother Pansy Mae, brothers John, Bob, Ron, and Jimmie; sisters Joanne and Barbara.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Marquis Care at Shaw Mountain and the Friendship House. They not only provided great care for mom but made it a home away from home. Mom enjoyed her stay there where compassion and activities are the norm.
Bonnie will be laid to rest next to her husband Ken at Cloverdale Cemetery. A viewing will be held at Cloverdale Funeral Home on Thursday June 18th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Her funeral and interment will be at Cloverdale on June 19th at 10:00 am. A reception will follow at West Side Bible Church, 2040 E Fairview Ave, Ste 1 Meridian Idaho.
