Cecil Eugene Hill
December 24, 1954 - July 14, 2016
Cecil Eugene Hill (Gene), 61, of Homedale, passed away at home with his children by his side July 14, 2016. Gene was born to Cecil and Evelyn Hill in Emmett, ID on December 24, 1954. Gene grew up in Horseshoe Bend and graduated from Emmett High school in 1973.
He began his wood working career with Hoff Lumber in Horseshoe Bend which later became Boise Cascade. He continued to work there until it closed. Gene also spent time working in the oil industry in Montana. He returned to Idaho and attended BSU receiving a certification in computer design. He then returned to his love of wood working with Boise Moulding and Lumber. Gene was very mechanical and was a licensed welder and journeyman machinist.
Gene married Karen Roberts in 1986 and they had two children, Cody and Raelynn. In 1991, the family moved to Homedale where Gene joined his father in building their business, Hills Custom Moulding in Marsing. Gene loved raising his children, going camping in the summers, fishing and hunting with them and never missed a school function, sporting event or celebration. In his spare time he loved buying, selling and restoring old cars. He was very talented with wood and crafted many amazing things. Gene was active in the LDS church and he spent over 9 years with Boy Scout Troop 409, he served as troop leader and Boy Scout Master. Over the years Gene enjoyed spending as much time with his family and most of all his grandchildren.
Gene is preceded in death by his parents Cecil & Evelyn Hill. He is survived by his sister, Deborah Hill; his children Cody Wade Hill (Jena) and Raelynn Jean Moroney (Clay); 7 grandchildren, Preston, Landon and Brooklyn Hill, Trapper, Ember, Tylee and Dusty Moroney.
Gene will forever be remembered in the hearts of many as "The Gentle Giant".
