Charles William Brooks
September 6, 1926 - September 10, 2016
Charles (Chuck) William Brooks, 90, passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 10, 2016.
Chuck was born in Beloit, Kansas on September 6, 1926. He moved to Oregon/Washington in 1940 and graduated from Prescott High School in 1943. He met the love of his life, Bernice DeLyria, at the roller rink and married July 5, 1948. They were married 66 years before Bernice passed away on September 17, 2014.
Chuck brought his young family to Caldwell in 1954 to work for J.R. Simplot at the Caldwell plant. They lived in Caldwell for over 60 years. He retired as Simplot's Plant Maintenance Supervisor in 1986. He was a member of Our Lady of The Valley Catholic Church, an Elk member for 50 years, officer of the Itasca/Winnebago club Snake River Winnies, a Boy Scout leader, and on the Board of Directors for Simplot Credit Union for many years.
He was a resourceful, talented, adventurous craftsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, waterskiing, snowmobiling, and traveling the country in his motorhome. He had a witty sense of humor that he kept throughout his life. This is what we will all miss the most of him.
Chuck is survived by his 4 children: Connie E. Williams (Joe) of Surprise, AZ, David B. Brooks (Jo Ann) of Atlanta, GA, Sherrie D. Bosserman of Boise, ID, and Teresa M. Smith (Gregory) of Kent, WA., eight grandchildren; Joe Williams, Amie Wilson, Elizabeth Bosserman, Tyler Brooks, Trenton Brooks, Logan Smith, Kahlee Smith, and Diadra Smith. He was also blessed with 2 great grandchildren Reece Williams and Kieren Wilson.
Dad/Grandpa will be greatly missed by his family. His will and determination to live through every adversity was inspirational. Chuck "Bulldog" Brooks was the rock of the family. We are comforted that he is now with his sweetheart.
Charles' funeral will be held at Flahiff Funeral Chapel in Caldwell, September 17, 2016 10:30 AM, viewing at 9:30 AM. Condolences can be given at
