Charlie Taylor
May 25, 1918 - December 23, 2015
Charles Blaine Taylor (Charlie, Grampy, Taylor, T3), age 97, of Kuna, Idaho, passed away December 23rd, 2015. Charlie was born to Frank and Gladys Taylor on May 25th, 1918 in Burr Oak, Kansas. Charlie moved to Kuna at the age of four with his family.
Charlie grew up in Kuna, working hard to help his family struggle through the great depression. Charlie married Alta Zimmerman in 1941 and they had two sons, Leo in 1943 and LeRoy in 1945.
In September of 1941 Charlie found work building the Nampa Amalgamated Sugar Factory. He was the second employee hired, the first being a surveyor. He stayed on until the factory was completed, working long hours, endless days in a row, in preparation for the 1942 campaign.
Later, Charlie purchased the family farm, south of Kuna, from his parents and another farm a couple miles to the east. Charlie and Alta milked cows and farmed for many years. In the mid 60's Charlie phased out the dairy and primarily raised beef. Charlie summer pastured a majority of his herd in Owyhee County, then in Weiser and Donnelly until the mid 90's. Charlie officially retired from farming at age 93, when he had a stroke on the family farm in Kuna.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Alta (Zimmerman) Taylor; sons, Leo Eugene and LeRoy Blaine Taylor; granddaughters, Gina (Vaughn) Day, Becky (Shawn) Brooks, Brook Taylor, Vickie (Chris) Allen, and BreAnna (Derek Kline); 12 great grandchildren; and 1, almost 2, great-great grandchildren.
There will be a viewing at Alsip and Persons Funeral Chapel in Nampa on Wednesday, December 30th from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. The funeral will be on Thursday, December 31st at 10:00 am, at Alsip and Persons. Charlie will be cremated, and as requested, his ashes will be spread under his favorite shade tree in Donnelly and on his family farm in Kuna.
