In March 1967 David moved his wife and family to Nampa, Idaho, where he worked for Elmer Tiegs Farms. He retired in 1988, then gardened full time sharing beautiful flowers and a bountiful garden with family and friends. Dad had a heart for the elderly helping many in various ways over the years.

To this union 4 children were born: John Scholl Sr. (Denise) of Nampa, Idaho, Gary Scholl (deceased 1969), Kay Scholl (Lee deceased 2003) of Nampa, Idaho, and Diana Watkins (Steve) of Caldwell, Idaho. They adopted Krystal Atwood, who was one of their many foster children they lovingly cared for in their home. Ella preceded David in death March 2nd, 1990.
David married Virginia Arnold on August 12, 1990. They were married until her death February 9, 2015. He was preceded in death by 7 brothers and 4 sisters. He is survived by 4 sisters, Ruth Schnell of Morrill, Nebraska, Miriam Bliss of Marysville, Ohio, Orlinda Bobbio of Glendale California, and Betty Hulpke (Jim) of Fallbrook, California; many Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, and a Great Grandchild to be born in 2016; and numerous extended family members.
