David Albert Wagner
May 10, 1940 - July 5, 2016
David Albert Wagner, 76 of Middleton, went to be with the Lord on July 5, 2016. He was born May 10, 1940 in Parma, Idaho to Carl and Doris Wagner, the youngest of their three children.
Dave went to elementary school in Roswell and then to Parma High where he played football. He graduated in 1959. He enjoyed friendships with many of his classmates that lasted the rest of his life. He always looked forward to and loved the class reunions.
Dave married Judy Orm and they bought a home in Middleton. He gained by adoption 3 children, Shirley, Kevin and Jerry, and later Kelli was born to them in 1973. As can happen sometimes, a divorce occurred and in 1981 Dave married Nonna Mealey, adding Terry and Nonnalee to the family, completing the Wagner Bunch.
Dave worked hard and held many jobs, from school days when he helped farmers around Parma to hay, and other farm work that a strong ambitious young man could do. He fed sheep before school (with the special perk of a real farmer's breakfast with the sheepherders) and eventually chose driving truck as the career with which to support his family. Whatever he did and wherever he went, Dave made friends and those friendships have been lasting ones. He retired from truck driving, but missed working so he worked at the Nyssa Sugar factory for a few campaigns and later took care of the Parma Cemetery.
Dave learned to fly an airplane and enjoyed some wonderful flights with John Crawford who shared ownership with him in a plane. He also flew his mother-in-law to Lewiston for a family reunion which she enjoyed and talked about the remainder of her life. Dave was deeply loved and highly respected by his father-in-law and mother-in-law.
Dave loved family and especially the children whom he constantly teased. He put his faith in the Lord Jesus and was baptized soon after on August 19, 2001. Dave became a member of Caldwell First Baptist Church and continued to grow in grace and knowledge of God for the rest of his life. He loved his church family and truly felt their love in return.
Dave is survived by his wife, Nonna Wagner of Middleton; his brother, Bud (Raedell) Wagner of Cambridge; 6 children, Terry (Margaret) Mealey of Middleton, Shirley Hoobery (Gregg Maggard) of Caldwell, Kevin (Anna) Wagner of Rineyville, KY, Nonnalee (Tony) Parker of Nampa, Jerry Wagner of Rineyville, KY, and Kelli (Sam) Samuels of Middleton; 19 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Roger Anderson; sister-in-law, Shielda Talich; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dick and Zella Mealy; and 2 nephews, Terry Anderson and Bobby Wagner.
A memorial service is planned for Thursday July 14th at Caldwell First Baptist Church at 10:30 am with Pastor Dick Shaw officiating. Services are under the direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Condolences maybe shared at www. dakanfuneralchapel.com
