Dawna Sparks-Laird, our beloved daughter, mother, and sister passed away suddenly of a heart attack at her home in Caldwell on October 25, at the age of 47. Dawna grew up in Caldwell, Idaho and graduated from Caldwell High School. Dawna remained in the Caldwell area and became the Employer Relations Manager at H2U and Outreach Coordinator at West Valley Medical Center.
Dawna loved her community. She lived life Big! Whatever she did and wherever she served she did it full of passion. Dawna was a great people person and made everyone she met feel like her best friend. She was a tireless public servant for the City of Caldwell and the local community. Dawna served on the Board of the Caldwell Chamber of Commerce, and the Board of Caldwell Kiwanis, the Caldwell Night Rodeo, the Annual Buckaroo Breakfast, and the Canyon County Fair. She served and supported the local Police and Fire Department and first responders agencies. She was the current Co-President and Co-Chair of the Board of the Canyon County Festival of Trees, which she loved. She served in countless other organizations and charities. She was an avid supporter and fan of the College of Idaho. Over the years her job and love for people brought tremendous growth in her life proffessionally. Through her work with West Valley Medical Center and H2U she helped build the framework for what Community Health Care Relations could do in the local community by helping local employers support the health and well-being of their workers. She left her imprint everywhere.
Dawna was also a passionate Mom in supporting and following her two sons Mike Sparks and Tyler Laird. She was a "rodeo mom" following and supporting her son Mike as a Professional Bull rider. She was also a "baseball mom" following and supporting her son Tyler as he played baseball at Valley View High, in Legion Baseball, and currently for Treasure Valley Community College. She loved and was very proud of her sons. She was a "Team Mom" to other players and cowboys. She was affectionately known as "Auntie Dawna" by many kids in the community.
Dawna was loved by her family and many friends. Dawna is survived by her father and mother, Gerald and Gail Crownover, who have lived and Pastored in Caldwell for 45 years; her brother and his wife Wayne and Wendy Crownover; her niece and nephew Sabrina and Hunter Crownover; and her two sons, Mike Sparks and Tyler Laird.
