Dean Ashcroft
January 3, 1942 - December 25, 2016
Dean Ashcroft, 74, of Nampa, Idaho and Dunphy, Nevada passed away December 25, 2016 in his childhood home in Nampa, Idaho. He was born in Salina, UT to Delbert Dean and Irene Brindley Moore on January 3, 1942 and adopted by Roy and Grace Moore Ashcroft soon after. Dean and his family moved to Nampa in 1953. He graduated from Nampa High School in 1960. He married the love of his life, Sherry Lynn Buell in the LDS Salt Lake Temple on October 3, 1963.
He graduated from BYU in 1968 in Finance and Banking. He was hired by Conoco straight out of college but soon would leave the corporate world to start his own business ventures. He loved trucks and started his own trucking company known as Ashcroft Sales. In 1990, he started farming in Nevada. He worked at Crawford Farms and then moved to the TS Ranch in Dunphy, Nevada putting up hay for the next 12 years. He also put up hay at the Dean Ranch, the IL Ranch, the RO Ranch, at Reese River, Winnemucca Farms, at Lagie Junction, and at the Horseshoe Ranch.
He was an active member of the LDS church, serving in many capacities including Bishop of the Carlin, Nevada Ward for 9 years. He also served a mission for the LDS Church in Northern California.
He was a kind and generous person with a great sense of humor. He could play many musical instruments. He loved his pets. He will be dearly missed by many.
Dean is survived by his wife, Sherry; 2 daughters, Carynn (Joe) Conder, Annesa Ashcroft; 4 grandchildren, Jacob, Hannah, Lilly, Cara; 1 sister Ann Wilder; 2 half brothers, Weldon (Carolyn) Bagley, Bud (Jean) Peterson. He is preceded in death by his parents, 3 half sisters, Helen Shultz, Ella Robinson, Rayona Cooke.
Services will be held December 30, 2016 at the Nampa LDS 2nd Ward Church at 2212 East Amity Avenue. The viewing will start at 2:00 PM and the service at 3:00. There will also be a service held at the LDS Carlin Ward Church in Carlin, Nevada on January 3, 2017. The viewing will be at 11:00 AM and the service at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow at the Carlin, Nevada Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel and Burns Funeral Home.
