Dixie Rae Metzger (Pedigo)
August 21, 1948 - October 6, 2015
Dixie Rae Metzger (Pedigo) peacefully transitioned from this life to the next on 06 October, 2015, after 67 years of service to her family, friends, and nation. She will always be remembered as our beloved mom, sister, grandma, and aunt, in addition to being a loving sister, friend, daughter, grand-daughter, niece, cousin, and faithful spouse of a Soldier.
Born on 21 August, 1948, in Nampa, Idaho to Richard (Dick) and Esther (Pat) Pedigo, she grew up in the area with her big sister, Sherry Spinden (Pedigo). She treasured the memories she built in Owyhee County and the surrounding area - having good old-fashioned fun with family and friends (and a few horses).
Dixie married Harold (Vern) Metzger on 02 November, 1968 and began 26 years of adventure, service, and sacrifice as an Army wife through several dozen moves around the country and a decade and a half in Germany throughout the Cold War, including its end. Along the way, she welcomed her sons, Chris and Richard into her life in 1972 and 1974 respectively and supported them as they entered into military service as well. She was always proud of her Soldiers and loved all who serve.
In 1994, Dixie returned home to Nampa to reestablish her roots and care for her family. She lived and worked in Nampa until her passing after a brief, but determined battle with aggressive lung cancer.
Dixie is survived by her sister, sons, daughters-in-law (Yvette and Ingrid), nephews (John and Eric), ten grandchildren, and all of her friends & extended family. May she rest in eternal peace and be fondly remembered by all.
A visitation and viewing will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Friday October 9, 2015 at the Nampa Funeral home, Yraguen Chapel.
