Donald Wayne Dennie
July 21, 1933 - May 5, 2017
Grampa Don saddled up and rode into the spring sunset for the last time on May 5, 2017.
He was born in Kadoka, South Dakota July 21, 1933. In 1940 his family moved to Emmett, Idaho and later moved to a dairy farm in Nampa. In 1951 he married Mary Turner and they lived in the Treasure Valley most of their marriage. In 1995, he retired from Yellow Freight after driving truck for over 40 years. He was an avid team roper and spent his retirement days doing what he loved the most; hanging out with good friends, swapping stories and roping some steers in various arenas around the valley. Don will be greatly missed by his friends, neighbors, acquaintances and especially by his family.
To his children he was a Dad and Grandpa, and his friends describe him as an honorable man who was deeply loved and respected by so many.
Don is preceded in death by his wife Mary in 2009 and daughter Jackie Perkins in 2006. He leaves behind three daughters, Lynne Denné, Gigi LaRossa and Terrie Rosenthal; seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
The family is holding a private family memorial service. If you wish to pay your respects to Don please donate to: The National Organization for Women, 1100 H Street NW, Ste. 300, Washington, DC 20005.
