Elaine June Ross
June 12, 1925 - January 13, 2015
Elaine June Ross, 89 of Nampa, passed away quietly at home on a sunny Tuesday, January 13th, surrounded by family. She was born June 12, 1925 in Rushville, Nebraska a daughter of Roscoe and Edith Sydow Hunter. The family moved from Nebraska to Idaho in 1943 and Elaine graduated from Kuna High School in 1946. She married the love of her life, Henry P. Ross on November 3, 1946 and they have since farmed and made their home south of Nampa.
They joined Highline Star Grange in 1952 and she has held a number of offices in the Grange. She has also been a member of Pomona, State and National Granges. Elaine and Henry have enjoyed many years of square dancing together, playing pinochle and summers in McCall.
Surviving are her husband of 68 years, Henry P. Ross; 4 daughters, Carol (Dale) Klinchuch, Kathy Bishop, Jean Atteberry and Terrie (Jerry) Bowen; two sisters, Ruth Nunley and Laura Foster; 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents and 7 brothers and 6 sisters.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to Legacy Hospice and Dr. Harold Kunz for the care Elaine received.
In her memory, memorial contributions may be made to the Idaho State Grange Youth Scholarship Fund, PO Box 367, Meridian, Idaho 83680.
The family will receive friends at Dakan Funeral Chapel in Caldwell from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 19th at Dakan Funeral Chapel in Caldwell.
