Elner Mae Strickland
May 23, 1929 - April 1, 2017
Elner Mae Strickland, 87 of Caldwell, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017 at residence in Autumn Wind Assisted Living, Caldwell. A private inurnment will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell. Memorial services will be held in Caldwell at a later date. Elner was born the third daughter to Elmer and Margaret (Wallace) Haynes on May 23, 1929 in Nampa, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her older sister, Virginia "Brownie" White and is survived by her oldest sister, Iris Parker. Elner moved back to Caldwell in 1988 and lived in the house her father built until moving into Autumn Wind 3 years ago.
Elner has four children, Jack Stickland of Taft, CA, Denise Behrens of Goldfield, NV, Jay Rogers of El Dorado, CA, and Claudine Rogers of Lincoln, CA; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 13 great great-grandchildren.
Elner was an avid quilter, Master Weaver, sculptor, and had many other talents. She loved to work on puzzles, read, and collect dolls. She had the voice of an angel and everyone remembers a time when she sang a sweet song to them. Elner was loved by everyone who knew her and was called the "Sunshine Girl" at Autumn Wind. She was a godly woman who put her family first, always. She was a much loved matriarch, a pillar of strength that kept her family together.
